Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend.

But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart . . . misses.

Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?

Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.

  1. What an awesome cover! I’ve seen this on a few other blogs, but didn’t add it to my to read list. But that’s changing now. 🙂

see what I picked this week at Read. Sleep. Repeat.

  2. I could definitely get into this book! Saw Sabrina’s post about the author passing away. How is it being published now? Know if it was meant to be a stand alone novel or if it was meant to be the first in a series? Adding it to my to-read list.

    Thanks, Ashley!

    1. I think Disney bought the rights to the book before she passed away. I assume it was written to be a stand alone, or else they probably tweaked the ending so that it could be! Not really sure though. But it is really sad. 🙁

  3. I love the sound of this, but I’m kind of taken aback by the similarities between the umm.. Snow White and the Huntsman (book) cover and this one. But I do think that the synopsis sounds awesome and I can’t wait to explore this mystical fairy tale:)

    1. That’s true, they are really similar. I actually prefer the Poison cover though. I like how it’s a bit lighter and I love the font effects on the title!

  4. You’re so lucky to have an arc of Pivot Point! I hope you enjoy it 🙂 Also, this sounds like an interesting read! I will have to put it on my Debut Author Challenge list.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I hate that this cover looks like the Snow White and the Huntsman poster. I’m not sure about this one. I received an ARC by surprise but it’s not high on my list. I gotta say, the pig really intrigues me 🙂

    1. Ohh totally jealous of your ARC. 😛 I actually like this cover more than the Snow White one. XD This one has a brighter feel to it and I think I like that. Just more my style I think!
